Special Event: Fireteam Ascension 24 Hour Charity Livestream

Hey there everyone, welcome to Halo Spotlight. The place where Halo community creations are put front and centre. Of course, creations aren’t just limited to artwork, forge maps or in game stuff. Things that happen in real life, such as events, are also creations.

This piece is a very special piece, as we’re highlighting an amazing event for a great cause. A group of amazing Halo cosplayers called Fireteam Ascension are coming together for a charity livestream to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The reason for this livestream is a deeply personal one to one of the members. We don’t want to do the fundraising page any injustice, so we’ll copy what the page says word for word below. Please note that some of the text features sensitive subjects:

    A message from Sami Sammour

“My beloved Uncle Paul, tragically died of bowel cancer in July 2020, just 15 months after having been diagnosed. While he was alive, he raised £5000 for Cancer Research. I want to continue his legacy. So, in his name, I, and a few friends will be doing a 24hr live stream on Halo trying to complete 4 games on the hardest difficulty. If you wish to sponsor me/donate, I guarantee that ALL proceeds will go to Cancer Research in the name of Paul Hoyland, my beloved Uncle. Let’s stop others losing their loved ones to this disease. Thank you.”

    Details

“The 24 hour gaming stream will be completed by Amy Ponting, Josh Whalley, Dan Gonzales and Sami Sammour who will be completing the story campaigns on Halo. Halo: Reach, Halo 3, Halo 3:ODST and Halo 4. This will be on legendary difficulty, the hardest difficulty in the games.  The stream will start on the 17th April. Time to be confirmed.

    The rules are the following:
    – Toilet breaks and other rest periods only during cutscenes, otherwise the group will be gaming.
    – Dan Gonzales will be completing the stream in his spartan cosplay costume
    – Food and drinks will be consumed whilst on stream.

The group will also be offering cosplay tips and advice whilst gaming, so feel free to interact with the group during the stream. Sami and Dan also will also be using cameras for visuals whilst playing.

Channels the stream will shown in:
    Sami Sammour: FrozenSoldier
    Dan Gonzales: GonzalesCosplayUK
    Amy Ponting: pinkfearie

The minimum Sami wants to raise is £150. But of course if we can raise more than this then we will totally go for it! Check the Fireteam Ascension  page for updates and links to the stream!”

The goal on gofundme is sitting at £150, but we really want to help out and get them above and beyond that goal. We’re asking the Halo Community to open their hearts and give to a good cause.

Dan was also kind enough to give us a preview of what cosplay he’ll be wearing for the stream. In his own words “I’ll be wearing my upgraded replacement for this suit.”

If you want to stay updated on the livestream and see more from Fireteam Ascension, you can do so on their Facebook Page.

You’ll also be able to find the announcement for the time of the stream on Dan Gonzales’s personal account and the stream’s event page on Facebook once they finalize a time.

If you know anyone that could help spread the word, be sure to reach out to us on our Twitter. All the help is very much appreciated.
