Fanart Feature: Ultra

Hey there everyone, welcome to Halo Spotlight. The place where Halo community creations are put front and centre. In fanart features, we highlight artists and their creations.

In this fanart feature, we’re showing off Source FilmMaker artwork by Ultra. Ultra told us that all the artwork is created in Source FilmMaker using workshop models, with the exception of some models ported from GMOD as well as some small edits in Photoshop.

A huge thanks to Ultra for sending over the following images with titles and descriptions. We hope you enjoy them just as much as we do.

    Anthony- 0926

“My Halo Reach spartan, known as spartan Anthony 926, or A-926. Created with SFM, I was trying to get comfortable with different poses with models.”

    Night Shift

“Anthony 0926 on night shift at an unknown UNSC outpost. Created with SFM, I was working on lighting. I still have ways to go, but this piece I’m proud of in terms of lighting.”

    Haunted

“A widespread myth across the UNSC, it is believed spartans fitted with the HAUNTED pilot helmet class possess abilities far beyond the scope of human imagination. Created with SFM, again working with lighting, and making things stand out even in the dark.”

    Fireteam Echo

“Fireteam Echo, mission is a go. Good Hunting. Created in SFM, one of my most lengthy projects. I wanted to combine what I learned with posing and lighting, as well as creating almost like a set piece.”

    Outnumbered

“”Those who take war games seriously have major success on the battlefield. In other words, get good spartan.” -unknown spartan IV.
Created with SFM, This was my first full scale sfm project, so it meant a lot to me and I was really proud with how it turned out.”

    Henchmen

“Fireteam Majora, commonly known as ‘The Henchmen’, operate in the outer rim of the human colonies to oversee covenant interactions as well as identify possible insurrectionist movements. It is unknown when they were formed nor how long they have operated.
Created with SFM, ODST models ported from GMOD, With this piece I started getting a little into the bread and butter of sfm by using override materials and porting models around from GMOD. A bit of a headache, but I learned a lot.”

    Bad Bunch

“A group of 4 spartan II’s deployed by the ONI to eliminate possible forerunner artefacts/targets to ensure humanities safety .The 4 agree under one condition…they do things their way. They call themselves the “Bad Bunch”.
Created with SFM, I had a lot of fun with this one. I’m not too into star wars but I really liked the look of the clones in the “Bad Batch”, so I thought to myself, “A halo mockup of the bad batch would look badass.””
