Fanart Feature: DerGruneMann

Hey there everyone, welcome to Halo Spotlight. The place where Halo community creations are put front and centre. In fanart features, we highlight artists and their creations.

In this fanart feature, we’re showing off artwork by DerGruneMann. Much like our previous fanart feature Rookie425, DerGruneMann creates artwork using Source Filmmaker.

As always, we requested permission for the artwork to be featured, along with asking for some artwork to go in the piece. You can find the pieces DerGruneMann sent over below.

    3rd Irish Regiment

    Extraterrestrial Deterrance

    LHS 1140B, 2548.
A covenant encampment is raided by the Spartans of NAVSPECWAR, Group B, A-Company under the command of Captain Tyler A-031 (Center Left).
Joined by Spartans Riley A-211 (Left), Kyle A-251 (Center Right) and Patrick A-176 (Right).

    Inika Heroes

It had only been a few days since they arrived on Mahri.
Our island, occupied from shore to shore by the Six Chieftains.
Yet in these warriors we found a sense of hope though some had their doubts.
How could 6 humans take on an army of brutish aliens? Sure they had their own special armor, weapons and equipment but it seemed impossible!
But as they’ve showed, it’s not what you have, it’s what you do with it.

    Lucette Du’Toit

    E-4, Corporal Lucette Ahmale Du’toit,
    G Company, Gaston 1-2.
    S. Africa Native.
Acting as 2IC under MGST Phillipe Murray and later SSGT François Desjardins during fighting in Voi, Kenya.

    Medical Journalism

As the Battle for Voi reaches a bloody conclusion, UNSC ground forces have to turn to alternative methods for transporting wounded out of the city.
Volunteer crews from the WHLK, NMCN, BXRN and WCRW news stations are sent into the fray, saving up to 1500 men.

    Spartan Hussars – Mustafa

“There… The humans on the hill…”
“I see him, Lord General. He’s… He’s holding a… cross?”
“Ultra Veri, tell the artillery commander to fire on that hill.”
    “At once, General.”

“Strange… The wind is still. But the Trees still move as if it’s blowing.”

We asked DerGruneMann about the creative process behind the above pieces, and this was their response:

“I guess the only thing I can add in terms of the creative process is that I try to stick with a more flat, photo realistic approach in SFM. My content is mostly recreations of real photos, events, movies, etc.

Though, I’ve moved or changed my approach slightly in favour of a more colourful setup like Rookie425 and Matthewo1o. I just like referencing pop culture and past conflicts in a halo aesthetic.”
