Hello everyone, and welcome to Halo Spotlight. The place where we shine a spotlight on Halo community creations. This piece is a Halo Creation Q&A, so we’ll be asking some questions regarding a specific Halo themed creation.
The Q&A
The Halo Spotlight team spoke with the leaders of a Halo community called Spartan War Games. After sending some questions over and getting their responses, we’re happy to share more information on what their community is and what merch they’ve got to share.
Question: Can you give us some background on the Spartan War Games Community and how it started?
Spartan War Games started as a Facebook Group back around 2013/2014 as a way to look for Grifball games under the alias of “Halo Custom Games”. The group was formed originally in Australia and a few friends from the UK and US.
We formed a Halo 5 Guardians Spartan Company and recruited new members to our group through the game and various methods online. It wasn’t until myself, “Mr Girthzilla” who suggested in 2016 that we form a Discord group as it offered better forum options than Facebook, which was becoming harder to use and navigate.

Since moving to discord we have now curated one of the largest and oldest Halo MCC groups in the UK and are looking across the world for new friends to keep Halo conversations and customs open. We host a variety of different custom games each week with 3 game nights that offer unique experiences to keep people coming back. Players can earn points.
All events are streamed on Twitch and we have multiple creators who stream alongside their POV’s for content. Isn’t it great how a simple LFG group became a whole community that is now recognized?!

Question: What made the team decide to make this piece of merch for the community?
We recently had our yearly UK meetup with existing community members as well as newer members for the first time.
We knew we wanted to do something special as it was also a meetup with another fellow community called “The Banished”, which is a Halo Infinite themed group that was formed for HCS London 2024. During this time, Hayabusa was just introduced to the game and fit the Yoroi core perfectly.

Question: How did the team come up with the design? What were the biggest challenges?
Mr Girthzilla’s irl friend rosiieBell was perfecting her digital art journey over the years and had practiced some designs for the community as she is also a member of the group.
She loves Japanese culture and the art/designs that surround it, so it was a no-brainer to ask her to come up with a big design on the back and a small logo on the front. This was her biggest piece and remains to this day her best piece of content for us.

In her own words: “Hmm…. I think it was the shading, getting the colours right to match lighting and shadows. But of all of it, the helmet was the hardest. The helmet was a silver effect on the game, but recreating that was hard because I only had the option of grey/white.
Also, the hands because I created my own positioning of them together and removed the energy and placed the hands together.

Question: How would people in your community acquire the new merch?
You can visit our merch store via our website: https://www.spartanwargames.com/ and navigate to the merch section. This will take you to Fourthwall, which is our storefront site here.
Question: To those not in the community yet, where can they find you?
They can find us on all major social media platforms. All links are nicely bundled here on our linktree, which also includes our website.

That concludes this Q&A. A massive thank you to the team at Spartan War Games for taking the time to chat with us. If you’re interested in checking out their socials, be sure to check out the links in the last question we asked. They’ve even got some brand new christmas merch live now!
